Description
The tour begins leaving the Lerma Valley, driving through different towns such as Cerrillos and La Merced until El Carril where we take another road to Chicoana. We enter “Quebrada de los Laureles”, visiting Escoipe where the movie “La Guerra Gaucha” was shot. A family that lives by selling souvenirs on the Cuesta del Obispo. After passing El Maray we reach the wonderful Cuesta del Obispo where we will enjoy beautiful panoramic views of Valle Encantado until we reach Piedra del Molino at 3348 meters above sea level. This will be the highest point in the tour to Cachi.
We start going down through the Los Cardones national park where you will see thousands of cacti and other protected species. After passing by Payogasta, we will reach Cachi, famous for its archeological museum and church. It has a central square surrounded by cobbled streets and houses with stone bases, adobe walls covered with lime and white sand, wrought iron bars, cardón or cane roofs covered with mud. THE excursion visits the Archaeological Museum and the parish church. Return to Salta by the same road.
